I need a grant to pay all my debts to the government. I need to pay my VA copays (around $2500) and my back taxes (around $1500). I can make it if I can get the government to leave my disability check alone.

Most of the entrepreneurial grants that I mention on my grants page were put in place to help people "achieve the american dream" - those are the exact words stated by the organizations that have put these grant programs in place. For example one state has just initiated their own grant program for start-ups in their state because new businesses mean a boon for the state - ie paying for that business license and so on - that money goes to the state The problem I see here is that you just aren't aware of the kinds of grant programs that I mention above. They are grant programs for people that want to start their own business and in the majority of these grant programs the applicant has to submit a business plan to at least show that they are serious about wanting to start a business. Since you have access to a computer why don't you just start looking for these start-up grant programs yourself?

Thanks for the info Rose! Unfortunately I can't afford your services. I want to start an "At Home Sewing Business" for profit and donate to needy causes for tax purposes. I need funding for start up as well, like an Embroidery Machine, thread, material, shelving for storage, advertising etc. I don't really see a need, just starting out, to hire someone else, but who knows if I get that busy and my business would happen to grow, maybe I should apply for a grant to create jobs. Thank you Rose. Your website is awsome and I wish you lots of luck.

Here is a question that has to be asked. Are you starting this business yourself or are you going to have others working with you? The reason I ask is because there is a government program that provides grant money to start a business in rural areas - to help build up the economy. Now there are a number of entrepreneurial grant programs out there for people that want to start their own business. The grant awards average around $20,000. Mind you I say average - some grant awards are higher and some are lower. And these are not government grants these are grants from other organizations and foundations and other businesses. If you are a minority there are grant programs that have been put in place especially for those minorities that want to start their own buisness - they were put in place to help minorities realize the "American Dream" You should also look to your state to see what grant programs are out there to help you start your business. I posted on my grants blog about just such a grant program that was just created to help those that want to start a business. This state grant program was put in place because in the words of the organization sponsoring the grant they "want to help people achieve the american dream". Plus new businesses provide new jobs, new revenues and just help to make the state's economy better. The money that is being used to fund this grant program comes from the state's taxes

I've just started researching grant info on Individual Business Grants, but wonder if the governement supports a business for individuals who want to sew for profit and/or non- profit organizations eg; battered women's shelters, hospitals, children's homes, orphanages, indian reservations, foriegn impovered countries etc. ? I don't have a degree in teaching and am not in the "Earned Income" catagory, but don't make enough to start my own business without much needed funding. I don't want to get a loan and am hoping to find a grant to support my wishes. I want to make money at my sewing business, yet would like to sew items for the needy and underprivaleged too. I've been sewing since the age of 10 and this is my passion. I would like to find funding for an Embroider Machine if possible(No "Brother" machines) and don't care to do alterations for the public.Mostly simple projects. Can you help me? Thank you, Diana Ross Weatherford, Texas 76088
